Overview
As a Garden Construction and Maintenance Volunteer with Ffynnon, you will provide practical, hands-on support across our community gardens. This role focuses on maintaining and improving garden infrastructure, ensuring spaces are safe, functional, and welcoming for volunteers and visitors. You may support one specific garden or work across multiple Ffynnon sites.
Purpose of the Role
To help maintain, repair, and develop garden infrastructure, supporting the smooth running of volunteer days, events, and ongoing garden activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain garden infrastructure such as raised bed borders, fences, pathways, seating, and other built features.
- Support the design and construction of new garden infrastructure as needed.
- Help with shed upkeep and general maintenance of garden buildings.
- Assist with tool care, including checking tools are in good condition and reporting when items are missing, damaged, or need repair or replacement.
- Provide practical support at events when required, such as erecting gazebos and moving tables, chairs, and equipment.
- Attend regular volunteer days and be available for practical tasks as agreed.
- Be contactable by staff or gardening volunteers if additional practical support is needed.

Ffynnon Committee Member
Overview
Ffynnon Community Resilience CIC – building local resilience, addressing community and environmental challenges including food security, climate adaptation and community preparedness in North East Pembrokeshire.
Purpose of the Role
As a Committee Member you will help lead and guide Ffynnon Community Resilience in delivering its mission to strengthen community resilience through sustainable local initiatives, skills-sharing, environmental projects and preparedness for current and future challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Governance & Leadership
- Attend and contribute to regular committee meetings and strategic planning.
- Help develop policies, plans and community priorities in line with the organisation’s aims.
- Ensure effective decision-making and good governance practices.
Project Oversight
- Support development and delivery of core projects (e.g., community gardens/orchards, skills workshops, local food initiatives, resilience planning).
- Oversee aspects of project implementation, evaluation and future planning.
Community Engagement
- Act as an ambassador for Ffynnon within the local area and with partner organisations.
- Engage volunteers, residents and stakeholders in activities and planning.
- Help gather community insights and feedback to inform resilience initiatives.
Communications & Outreach
- Contribute to public communications, social media, newsletters, events and awareness-raising efforts.
- Support fundraising proposals, reporting and outreach to potential partners/funders.
Support & Development
- Encourage inclusive participation in Ffynnon’s work and volunteer opportunities.
- Help ensure the wellbeing, recognition and support of volunteers involved in projects

Event Support
Overview
As an Event Support Volunteer with Ffynnon, you will help ensure the smooth planning and delivery of a wide range of community events. These may include open days, training sessions, courses, community celebrations, and food or music events.
Purpose of the Role
To assist with the coordination, organisation, and on-the-day running of Ffynnon events, helping create welcoming, well-organised experiences for the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the full event-planning process, from early preparation through to delivery.
- Coordinate with other volunteers and staff to ensure tasks are allocated and completed.
- Assist with creating and distributing promotional materials, including posters and social media posts.
- Help prepare event spaces and liaise with external stallholders, activity leaders, and partner organisations.
- Direct and support outside organisations and volunteers on the event day.
- Assist with refreshments, café setup, food preparation, and general hospitality.
- Help organise rotas and be a key point of contact who understands the schedule and flow of the event.
- Ensure events are welcoming, safe, and enjoyable for all attendees.

Translate written materials from English into Welsh, such as:
- Website content
- Volunteer information
- Community notices and posters
- Funding applications or reports (short sections)
Ensure translations are clear, accurate and appropriate for a community audience.
Where appropriate, advise on tone and culturally appropriate Welsh language use.
Occasionally review existing Welsh text for clarity or consistency.
Work collaboratively with volunteers, staff and committee members.
Personal Qualities & Skills
- Fluent Welsh speaker with strong written Welsh.
- Good understanding of community, voluntary or environmental language.
- Reliable and able to meet agreed deadlines.
- Attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality translations.

Community Outreach and Fundraising
Overview
As a Community Outreach and Fundraising Volunteer with Ffynnon, you will help raise awareness of our work and inspire community involvement across our network of four community gardens:
- Fruit & Nut, Cilgerran
- Field of Beans, Blaenffos
- Clynfyw Community Garden, Abercych
- Community Plot at Pen y Foidr Allotments, Cilgerran
You may choose to support a specific garden or work across the Ffynnon organisation as a whole.
Purpose of the Role
To represent Ffynnon at community events, promote our gardens’ activities, and support fundraising and volunteer recruitment efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Run stalls at outreach events, open days, and local activities on behalf of Ffynnon or an individual garden.
- Talk to members of the public about Ffynnon’s projects, aims, and the ongoing work within the gardens.
- Stay informed about current activities, projects, and opportunities across the gardens.
- Help run engagement activities such as tombolas, plant sales, and other interactive stalls.
- Encourage people to sign up as volunteers or join the mailing list.
- Promote garden open days, attend them with an information stall, and support hands-on engagement activities.
- Provide a friendly, welcoming presence that fosters interest and builds connections with the community.

Cyfrifoldebau Allweddol
Pen y Foidr Community Plots
Overview
The Pen Y Foidr Community Plot is a community-run project supported by Ffynnon. Volunteers work together to tend a large outdoor plot and growing beds within a polytunnel. Pen Y Foidr operates as a conventional allotment site including a communal tool shed and equipment and connections to nearby Ffynnon projects, such as the adjacent Fruit & Nut Community Garden and a public footpath.
Purpose of the Role
To help grow, maintain, and develop the Pen y Foidr community plot, contributing to shared food production, community engagement, and wider Ffynnon activities if desired.
Key Responsibilities
- Join weekly volunteer sessions every Friday from 10am–2pm (flexible arrival/departure times available).
- Help tend the main plot and polytunnel beds.
- Support general allotment tasks such as planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, and seasonal maintenance.
- Assist with the upkeep of the fruit cage, including regular checks and maintenance.
- Support the care of newly planted trees, including mulching and watering as needed.
- Share harvested produce among volunteers and support its use at community events.
- Get involved in wider Ffynnon events and projects if interested.

Fruit & Nut Community Gardener
Overview
As a Community Gardener at Fruit & Nut in Cilgerran, you will join an inclusive, friendly volunteer community caring for a public-access garden located behind the football field. The garden is open 24/7 and used by local groups, events, and courses, making it a vibrant and welcoming community space.
Purpose of the Role
To help maintain and develop the Fruit & Nut community garden, supporting seasonal growing activities and contributing to a shared green space enjoyed by the whole community.
Key Responsibilities
- Take part in monthly volunteer days on the first Sunday of every month from 11am–4pm.
- Support seasonal gardening tasks such as planting, weeding, pruning, mulching, and harvesting fruits and occasional salads/vegetables.
- Help maintain the garden as an accessible, welcoming space for visitors and community groups.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for volunteers of all ages and abilities.
- Optionally participate in activities or events linked to other Ffynnon community gardens.

As a Community Grower at Clynfyw, you will be part of a thriving community garden set within a larger social enterprise that includes a care farm, orchards, apple juicing, and the Ffynnon Farmstart headquarters. The garden is an active, welcoming space supported by care farm participants, residents, and public volunteers.
Purpose of the Role
To support the growing of fresh vegetables for veg boxes, on-site use, and small-scale sales, while contributing to an inclusive and purposeful community environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Join weekly volunteer sessions every Thursday from 10am–2pm (flexible arrival/departure times available).
- Take part in a range of gardening tasks including sowing, planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, and composting.
- Work across multiple growing spaces, including several polytunnels, outdoor beds, and an extensive composting system.
- Collaborate with care farm volunteers, residents, and other community members in a friendly and supportive environment.

- Support seasonal gardening tasks such as sowing, planting, weeding, maintenance, and harvesting.
- Join monthly cooperative meetings and volunteer to become a crop guardian or take responsibility for a particular area of the garden.
- Work collaboratively with other growers and contribute to shared decision-making.
