It was the 9th of May, which meant it was the second Saturday of the month — time for our Beansprouts monthly Kids in Gardens session at the Field of Beans.
With the sun shining, by the usual start time of 1:30pm the garden was already full of smiling kids and parents, all excited to harvest fresh produce and cook together with our local heroes, Ein Gegin CIC.
Based in West Wales, Ein Gegin are a community kitchen and CIC providing free mobile cooking workshops that help increase access to local, sustainable food across the area.
And on the menu? Pizza — but not just any pizza. Freshly made pizzas prepared by the kids themselves, topped with ingredients picked only minutes earlier and just metres away from where they were cooked. It really doesn’t get fresher or more local than that.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along, helped out, and shared pizza together — and an even bigger thank you to Ein Gegin CIC for everything they continue to give to the community.

What a lush way to spend a Saturday.
