Growing Connections

On November 18th, The Field of Beans had the pleasure of hosting two passionate community leaders.

Jen, a volunteer at Prendergast CP School and Havergardd Community Garden, works to connect local organizations. Claire, from Bocs Bwyd at Prendergast CP, focuses on food literacy, helping children and parents understand the links between food, nature, and the economy. Their school garden is a hub for learning and wellbeing.

Despite the weather, we had a great time touring the garden, sharing ideas about growing techniques, and discussing ways to involve young people in gardening. In a spirit of collaboration, they left with trays of extra seedlings to plant in their own community spaces.

Jen said, “It’s inspiring to know there’s a project out there with similar goals.” Claire added, “The seedlings were planted by pupils and volunteers the following week, bringing new life to our community garden.”

We’re proud to see our garden’s plants—and its mission—growing connections across the county.
