Agroecological methods turn waste into inputs and improve biodiversity
Here at the Ffynnon Farmstart small cattle are mob grazed with a mobile hen house following the rotation. Cattle are an appropriate size for the local land conditions and are winter hardy. Chickens scratch the cowpats and evenly fertilise the pasture, hens eat fly larvae which would otherwise become pests for the cows. Chickens need little feeding as much nutrients come straight from forage and larvae of pests. Pasture is much improved due to spreading of manure. Beef, eggs, happy animals and increased biodiversity!
