{"id":5272,"date":"2024-09-12T12:14:28","date_gmt":"2024-09-12T11:14:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ffynnon.org.uk\/?page_id=5272"},"modified":"2024-09-12T12:14:28","modified_gmt":"2024-09-12T11:14:28","slug":"pen-y-foidr-rules","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ffynnon.org.uk\/cymraeg\/pen-y-foidr-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Pen Y Foidr Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartFragment --><\/p>\n<p><em>This is a work-in-progress document shaped by members of the Ffynnon Pen Y Foidr Community Allotment.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Our Values<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Grow food<\/strong>: In a world where food production is becoming more precarious (due to climate change, rising temperatures, drought, etc.), allotments provide opportunities for community members to grow food for themselves.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Work with nature<\/strong>: While growing, we aim to minimize harm to wildlife and the environment. For example, we\u2019ve discussed creating a pond to promote biodiversity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community spirit<\/strong>: Let&#8217;s be good neighbors to fellow plotholders. Avoid causing nuisance or annoyance, and remain tolerant of others. Allotments provide many well-being benefits, offering a space for relaxation and social interaction. Opportunities to meet as a group (possibly monthly) will be shared electronically to discuss issues and make future plans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Rules &amp; Guidelines<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>No synthetic pesticides or herbicides<\/strong>: Avoid any chemicals that could cause lasting damage to soil, plants, or local wildlife (e.g., non-organic slug pellets).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Minimize pollution<\/strong>: Ensure plastics brought on-site do not degrade into microplastics. Guidance on this will be shared.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Control pets<\/strong>: Keep dogs under control and away from others&#8217; plots unless permission is granted.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fires<\/strong>: Permitted only for natural materials (e.g., no plastics or painted wood). Fires must be tended at all times.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Water usage<\/strong>: Use water responsibly and primarily for the allotment site. Mulching is encouraged to reduce water loss.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Avoid invasive species<\/strong>: Do not bring plants like Japanese knotweed onto the site.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tree planting<\/strong>: Trees can be planted near the north-side fence. Elsewhere, they should remain approximately 1.5m or lower to avoid shading neighboring plots. Discuss plans with the group beforehand.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visitors<\/strong>: Plotholders are responsible for anyone they bring onto the site.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fees<\/strong>: Pay plot and water fees promptly. Failure to pay may result in tenancy termination.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anti-social behavior<\/strong>: Persistent or extreme anti-social behavior will lead to tenancy termination. Efforts will be made to resolve issues through discussion or mediation first.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plot maintenance<\/strong>: During this &#8220;pioneer phase,&#8221; inspections are deferred until June 2025. In the future, plotholders unable to maintain sufficient plot cultivation will receive reminders and may need to downsize. A committee will oversee this process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Please note that this is a work-in-progress document.
